The article presents the development of electronic repositories in Ukraine over the last 5 years. Characterized their contents and size. Presented are the basic steps of creating and operating principles of an electronic repository of Lviv Polytechnic national University - "Lviv Polytechnic National University Institutional Repository”. Describes in detail the conditions for the effective development of institutions repositories, sources of documents, creating and promoting the idea of ​​Open Access.
